The painting is my response to song #138 in More Voices, published by Wood Lake Publishing and The United Church of Canada, 2007 – “My Love Colours Outside the Lines” or “Outside the Lines” by Gordon Light, 1995, copyright Common Cup Company, 1995.

The chorus song lyrics:

My love colours outside the lines,

exploring paths that few could ever find;

and takes me into places where I’ve never been before,

and opens doors to worlds outside the lines.

The painting was done at a time when I was searching for a freerer way of working with paint and color and the song inspired me to do just that.
