Introduction to Watercolour
Choose from:
  • a) February 6, 7, 13, and 14 (Monday and Tuesday morning) 9:00-12:00.
    Cost, including all supplies, is $150.00.

OR

  • b) February 4 and 11, Saturday, 9:30 to 4:00.
    Cost, including all supplies, is $150.00.


Watch demonstrations, practice expressive watercolour painting, and gain knowledge and experience in watercolour techniques that you can build on. Learn how to organize a palette, choose and prepare materials, use five pigments to create a variety of colours, lay down washes, and create texture. At the end of the session(s) you will have "frameable" pieces of your own work that you have completed during the classes. You will learn how to frame your art on cradled wood panels or canvas in lieu of mats and glass. Helpful handouts will be provided to guide you in the future. A maximum of four people per session allows time for individual attention.


Tea/ coffee and snack are provided each session. (For Saturday sessions bring a bag lunch).

part 1: soft edges and negative painting in sunflowers
part 2: texture in windows and doorways
part 3: wash and value techniques for landscape (hills, sky, clouds)
part 4: continuation of part 3 (trees, rocks, reflections) and wrap-up

More Advanced Watercolour
  • February 20, 21, 27, and 28 (Monday and Tuesday morning) 9:00-12:00.
    Cost, including some supplies, is $150.00.

Watch demonstrations, practice expressive watercolour painting, and gain knowledge and experience in watercolour techniques that you can build on. Learn how to enlarge and use parts of photographs and reference material to create a drawing for painting. Learn how to apply liquid mask, paint the first washes, and add subsequent glazes. Please come with your own brushes, paints, and references of a subject that you are interested in painting. A suggested supply list will be sent to you prior to the class. Some materials will be supplied. A maximum of four people per session allows time for individual attention.
Tea/ coffee and snack are provided each session.

Parent/Caregiver and Child Art Experience

February 25 (Saturday afternoon) (ages toddler and up).
Cost, including supplies, is $15 per couple.
Maximum of 4 couples at one time.

  • 2:00-3:00

OR

  • 3:30 to 4:30
You and your child will produce “one of a kind” artworks to take home. Watch a demonstration and then have the freedom to experiment with the art materials provided.
A healthy refreshment will be provided.

Okanagan Centre Art Show -- Birds of a Feather. Featuring the jewelry of Janet Stein and artwork of June Seed, Gwen Graham, Margaret Kyle, and Pippi VanLeardum. Paint a panel and help raise funds for Okanagan Centre Hall. Music and refreshments provided. Details to be announced.
